2023 Tax Deductions for Educators

If you're an educator, first and foremost, thank you.

You deserve deductions, and the IRS urges all K-12 teachers, instructors, counselors, principals, and aides who worked a minimum of 900 hours throughout the school year in a public or private setting to take advantage of them.

For all of your books, supplies, electronic equipment, COVID-19 protective items, and professional development courses that you pay for out of pocket, you can deduct up to $300 on your next tax return.

Not included are the costs of homeschooling and nonathletic supplies for health or physical education courses.

As always, keep record of your expenses, and here's to a happy school year!
